I am David Burns, a former RFU Emergency First Aid in Rugby Union (EFARU) Tutor.

Sadly, the EFARU course is now a thing of the past, so I have registered with NUCO Training Limited and can offer an identical one-day learning experience at your club which will be rugby-focussed. I am also a Medical Tutor for the Football Association within the professional and grassroots game.

The overall aim of the Emergency First Aid at Work course is to raise the standard of first aid provision within Rugby Union. It goes beyond the basic online RFU first aid course.

Our Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work Course is Rugby Union specific and is scenario orientated to maximise the learning experience. In my view, emergency first aid is not about passive online viewing, it has to be a real life hands-on learning experience.

Course Contents

  • The role of the first aider
  • Incident and casualty assessment
  • CPR & AED: unresponsive casualty not breathing
  • Unconscious casualty breathing normally
  • Choking
  • Shock & internal bleeding
  • External bleeding & minor injuries
  • Suspected fractures
  • Suspected spinal injuries
  • Injury prevention
  • Head injury and concussion
